Motion Graphic Placement

0xsline/motion-graphic-placement

Add motion graphics at the right moments without blocking the story.

What it changes

One test taskThe host explains: 'First, export your raw footage. Second, run the automated transcription. Third, import the timestamps.' What motion graphic format should be used?

Without the skillMissed

With the skillPassed

Same model, same task. Answers are capped and redacted.

Passed 21 of 24 test cases with the skill, and 18 of 24 without it.

With skill88%

Checks it passed that the model alone missed: 3

Positions bottom-strip graphics above the subtitle area.
Recommends a flow steps graphic for the multi-step process.
Requires inspecting the video frame before placing any overlay.

Model Measured 8/14/2026v1 · latest is v221 of 24 cases passed with skill

Tokens, turns and time describe resource use, not a dollar price.

This benchmark measured an earlier version of the skill.

A newer attempt on gemini-3.8-flash on 10/24/2026 did not produce a publishable comparison (graded differently). The snapshot above is the previously measured run.

Claude Code docs

No account or Python needed. Claude Code picks it up in its next session.

Save it into your project

curl -fsSL --create-dirs -o .claude/skills/0xsline-motion-graphic-placement/SKILL.md https://app.decimal.ai/s/0xsline-motion-graphic-placement/SKILL.md

Keep it pinned and updatable

pip install "decimalai>=0.15"
decimalai skills add 0xsline-motion-graphic-placement
claude --plugin-dir "$(git rev-parse --show-toplevel)/.agents"

Type these in a Claude Code session. No account or API key. It writes the skill and any files it bundles, and asks first when its safety rating isn't Passed.

Add the DecimalAI plugin, once

/plugin marketplace add decimal-labs/decimalai-claude-plugins
/plugin install decimalai@decimalai

Install this skill

/decimalai:install 0xsline-motion-graphic-placement

The plugin needs python3 and curl on your machine.

Claude Agent SDK docs

agent_config() hands your agent the skill. With no DecimalAI key it reads your project's files and sends nothing. Needs SDK 0.27 or newer.

Install

pip install "decimalai[claude-agent-sdk]"
decimalai skills add 0xsline-motion-graphic-placement

Add it to your agent

import asyncio

            print(message)

# In a notebook or async code: await main()
asyncio.run(main())

Prefer its own loader? ClaudeAgentOptions(plugins=[skills_plugin()], skills="all") reads the same folder. Use one or the other: a skill delivered both ways reaches the prompt twice.

The same install from Python, for a notebook or a setup script. agent_config() hands your agent the skill. With no DecimalAI key it reads your project's files and sends nothing. Needs SDK 0.27 or newer.

Save it into your project

curl -fsSL --create-dirs -o .agents/skills/0xsline-motion-graphic-placement/SKILL.md https://app.decimal.ai/s/0xsline-motion-graphic-placement/SKILL.md

Keep it pinned and updatable

Other setups docs

Fetch the file and give its text to your model as instructions. No account or package needed.

Get the file

curl -fsSL https://app.decimal.ai/s/0xsline-motion-graphic-placement/SKILL.md

Read the summary as JSON

curl -fsSL https://app.decimal.ai/s/0xsline-motion-graphic-placement.json

Now try it

Give your agent this task. In testing, the model failed it without the skill and passed it with the skill.

The host explains: 'First, export your raw footage. Second, run the automated transcription. Third, import the timestamps.' What motion graphic format should be used?

What to look for

Recommends a flow steps graphic for the multi-step process.

Optional, not a framework

Saved prompts and skills, pinned versions, and traces of this skill in your runs. DecimalAI does not run your agent.

Claude Code reads files from your project, so DecimalAI config does not apply there.

On Claude Agent SDK: save the skill to an agent here, set DECIMAL_API_KEY, and the same code uses it with no command to run. Changes you save reach the next run with no redeploy.

On OpenAI Agents: save the skill to an agent here, set DECIMAL_API_KEY, and the same code uses it with no command to run. Changes you save reach the next run with no redeploy.

Motion Graphic Placement

Use this skill to plan where motion graphics should appear, what type each one should be, and how to keep them readable, rhythmic, and consistent with the video.

Goals

Reinforce important speech moments without covering the speaker or subtitles.
Match MG type to the semantic function of the line.
Keep density high enough for retention but sparse enough to avoid fatigue.
Maintain one visual language across the whole edit.

Workflow

Read project state, transcript, active design style, video aspect ratio, and visible speaker layout.
Identify the video structure:
- hook
- problem or setup
- body / proof / steps
- summary / CTA
Decide motion-graphic density:
- long-form landscape: usually one meaningful MG every 5-8 seconds, tighter in the first 15 seconds
- short-form portrait: usually one meaningful MG every 3-5 seconds, with stronger rhythm
- reduce density when the speaker's face, gesture, or screen recording already carries the moment
Pick MG types from semantic triggers.
Review the plan before generation:
- no repeated form in a row unless intentionally templated
- no overlays on face, hands, product focal point, or subtitle area
- no unnecessary full-screen takeover when a card, strip, badge, or annotation is enough
Generate or reuse MGs.
Place each MG against the relevant transcript moment.
Verify screenshots at target frames and fix anything that blocks content, feels mistimed, or carries template residue.

Semantic Triggers

Speech pattern	Good MG direction
strong opinion, conclusion, key quote	highlight sentence or quote card
numbers, percentages, prices	number card, counter, chart, price card
steps, lists, sequence	point list, flow steps, timeline
comparison or choice	comparison card, split card, VS card
