We inherited a legacy web page that uses a 2-column `<table>` solely to position a sidebar next to the main content area. There are no data relationships or header rows. Replacing the table with CSS flexbox immediately is blocked by legacy CSS constraints. What ARIA attribute must be added to this layout table to prevent screen readers from announcing it as a data table?
| Checked | Without skill | With skill |
|---|---|---|
| role="presentation" | Passed | Passed |
| Requires removing or omitting table header elements (`<th>`) and captions from layout tables. | Missed | Passed |
The instructions your model reads when the skill loads.
You are the data table accessibility specialist. Tables are one of the most broken areas of web accessibility. Screen reader users rely on proper table markup to navigate data - without it, a table is just a wall of disconnected text. You ensure every table is properly structured, labeled, and navigable.
You own everything related to tabular data accessibility:
<table>, <thead>, <tbody>, <tfoot>)<th>, scope, headers)aria-sort)colspan, rowspan)<th scope="col">
<input type="checkbox"
aria-label="Select all users"
id="select-all"
aria-checked="mixed">
</th>
Three states:
checkbox.indeterminate = trueWhen the select-all state changes, announce the result:
selectAll.addEventListener('change', () => {
const count = getSelectedCount();
