Table Schema (two layers: index vs Appendix)

willoscar/table-schema

Define evidence-first table schemas for a survey: what each table must answer, row unit, columns, and which evidence-pack fields are required to fill it. **Trigger**: table schema, schema-first tables, table design, 表格 schema, 先 schema 后填充. **

What it changes

One test taskWe need to design the primary Index table schema (I1 Subsection Map) inside `outline/table_schema.md`. A colleague suggested using paper citation IDs as the row unit and mapping evidence from external web search results. Please write the exact schema definition for table I1.

Claude Code docs

No account or Python needed. Claude Code picks it up in its next session.

Save it into your project

curl -fsSL --create-dirs -o .claude/skills/willoscar-table-schema/SKILL.md https://app.decimal.ai/s/willoscar-table-schema/SKILL.md

Keep it pinned and updatable

pip install "decimalai>=0.15"
decimalai skills add willoscar-table-schema
claude --plugin-dir "$(git rev-parse --show-toplevel)/.agents"

This gets SKILL.md only. The skill's 1 other file is not included. The other two ways bring them.

Type these in a Claude Code session. No account or API key. It writes the skill and any files it bundles, and asks first when its safety rating isn't Passed.

Add the DecimalAI plugin, once

/plugin marketplace add decimal-labs/decimalai-claude-plugins
/plugin install decimalai@decimalai

Install this skill

/decimalai:install willoscar-table-schema

The plugin needs python3 and curl on your machine.

No tools at all. Claude Code picks it up in its next session.

Claude Agent SDK docs

agent_config() hands your agent the skill. With no DecimalAI key it reads your project's files and sends nothing. Needs SDK 0.27 or newer.

Install

pip install "decimalai[claude-agent-sdk]"
decimalai skills add willoscar-table-schema

Add it to your agent

import asyncio

            print(message)

# In a notebook or async code: await main()
asyncio.run(main())

Prefer its own loader? ClaudeAgentOptions(plugins=[skills_plugin()], skills="all") reads the same folder. Use one or the other: a skill delivered both ways reaches the prompt twice.

The same install from Python, for a notebook or a setup script. agent_config() hands your agent the skill. With no DecimalAI key it reads your project's files and sends nothing. Needs SDK 0.27 or newer.

Cursor and other editors docs

No account or Python needed. Cursor, Copilot, Cline and Warp read this folder by themselves.

Save it into your project

No tools at all. Cursor, Copilot, Cline and Warp read this folder by themselves.

Copy SKILL.md

Save it in your project, as

This gets SKILL.md only. The skill's 1 other file is not included.

Other setups docs

Fetch the file and give its text to your model as instructions. No account or package needed.

Get the file

curl -fsSL https://app.decimal.ai/s/willoscar-table-schema/SKILL.md

Read the summary as JSON

curl -fsSL https://app.decimal.ai/s/willoscar-table-schema.json

This gets SKILL.md only. The skill's 1 other file is not included.

Now try it

Give your agent this task. In testing, the model failed it without the skill and passed it with the skill.

We need to design the primary Index table schema (I1 Subsection Map) inside `outline/table_schema.md`. A colleague suggested using paper citation IDs as the row unit and mapping evidence from external web search results. Please write the exact schema definition for table I1.

What to look for

Designates H3 subsections as the row unit for table I1
Maps column evidence directly to subsection_briefs.axes

Prompt

We want to run the python bootstrapper script for table schema creation from the terminal. We need to pass our workspace directory path `/projects/survey_agent` and write the output schema file to a custom relative path `outline/custom_schema.md`. What is the exact shell command invocation?

What was checked, without and with the skill
Checked	Without skill	With skill
Invokes script using uv run python	Missed	Passed
Includes --workspace flag in the command	Passed	Passed
Includes --outputs flag in the command	Missed	Passed

Table Schema (two layers: index vs Appendix)

Triggers & routing

Trigger: table schema, schema-first tables, table design, 表格 schema, 先 schema 后填充.
Use when: you want survey tables that are verifiable and fillable before LaTeX (typically Stage C4, after evidence packs exist).

Tables are not decorations; they are compression.

A common failure mode in this pipeline: the first table that gets generated looks like an internal index. So we separate tables into two layers:

outline/tables_index.md (internal)

purpose: coverage/debugging + fast evidence scan
allowed to be more exhaustive
should NOT be inserted into the paper

outline/tables_appendix.md (reader-facing)

purpose: publishable survey tables (clean layout + high information density)
can be inserted into the final PDF as Appendix

This skill designs both layers before filling.

Default mode: semantic (LLM-first)

Treat this as a design task, not running a script.

If a column cannot be filled from existing evidence packs without guessing, the schema is wrong.

Roles (use explicitly)

Table Designer (reader lens)

Mission: choose tables that answer reader questions, not pipeline questions.

Do:

make each table answer one question
keep tables small enough to fill (two good tables beat one impossible mega-table)
