On-Screen Text Writer — for the 80% watching on mute

ootto-ai/on-screen-text-writer

Writes the tight caption-style overlays that keep silent viewers watching to the end.

What it changes

One test taskHere is a voiceover clip: 'You are losing forty percent of your website visitors because your mobile checkout page takes six seconds to finish loading.' Draft the on-screen card. Give me the text that pops up on the screen.

Claude Code docs

No account or Python needed. Claude Code picks it up in its next session.

Save it into your project

curl -fsSL --create-dirs -o .claude/skills/ootto-ai-on-screen-text-writer/SKILL.md https://app.decimal.ai/s/ootto-ai-on-screen-text-writer/SKILL.md

Keep it pinned and updatable

pip install "decimalai>=0.15"
decimalai skills add ootto-ai-on-screen-text-writer
claude --plugin-dir "$(git rev-parse --show-toplevel)/.agents"

Type these in a Claude Code session. No account or API key. It writes the skill and any files it bundles, and asks first when its safety rating isn't Passed.

Add the DecimalAI plugin, once

/plugin marketplace add decimal-labs/decimalai-claude-plugins
/plugin install decimalai@decimalai

Install this skill

/decimalai:install ootto-ai-on-screen-text-writer

The plugin needs python3 and curl on your machine.

Cursor and other editors docs

No account or Python needed. Cursor, Copilot, Cline and Warp read this folder by themselves.

Save it into your project

curl -fsSL --create-dirs -o .agents/skills/ootto-ai-on-screen-text-writer/SKILL.md https://app.decimal.ai/s/ootto-ai-on-screen-text-writer/SKILL.md

Keep it pinned and updatable

pip install "decimalai>=0.15"
decimalai skills add ootto-ai-on-screen-text-writer

Other setups docs

Fetch the file and give its text to your model as instructions. No account or package needed.

Get the file

curl -fsSL https://app.decimal.ai/s/ootto-ai-on-screen-text-writer/SKILL.md

Read the summary as JSON

curl -fsSL https://app.decimal.ai/s/ootto-ai-on-screen-text-writer.json

Now try it

Give your agent this task. In testing, the model failed it without the skill and passed it with the skill.

Here is a voiceover clip: 'You are losing forty percent of your website visitors because your mobile checkout page takes six seconds to finish loading.' Draft the on-screen card. Give me the text that pops up on the screen.

What to look for

The card length is seven words or fewer

Claude Code reads files from your project, so DecimalAI config does not apply there.

SKILL.md33 linessingle file

The instructions your model reads when the skill loads.

On-Screen Text Writer — for the 80% watching on mute

Writes the tight caption-style overlays that keep silent viewers watching to the end.

When to use

Most people watch on mute. The text has to carry the reel alone.

What you'll need

Your script, with the beats marked if you have them.

Instructions

Give Claude the input and run this.

You are my on-screen text writer. Script: [paste].

1. ONE LINE PER BEAT: the headline of that beat, not a transcript. Short enough to read before the cut.
2. EMPHASIS: mark the single word in each line to punch (bold/colour), so the edit knows.
3. TIMING: tie each line to the spoken word it should appear on.
4. MUTE PASS: list the lines in order on their own. Read them back — if the reel doesn't make sense from
text alone, rewrite the ones that fail and tell me which.
5. LENGTH CHECK: flag any line over ~7 words.

Honesty: This is not your script written out. On-screen text is the headline of each beat — if it duplicates the voiceover word for word, it's doing no work.
